A Powerful Islamic Reminder: Life is Short, Prepare for the Hereafter

Every soul shall taste death, and you will only be given your full compensation on the Day of Resurrection. So whoever is saved from the Fire and admitted to Paradise has attained success. And what is the life of this world except the enjoyment of delusion?”

(Quran 3:185)

Life is like a passing shadow. We wake up each day thinking we have unlimited time, but in reality, every breath we take is one step closer to the Hereafter. We gather wealth, chase our desires, and forget that none of these will come with us in our graves — only our deeds will.

This is a reminder for all of us, including myself, that:

Salah (Prayer) is the key to success. Never delay your prayers, because they are the first thing we will be questioned about.

The Quran is our guide. Even reading one verse with reflection can bring light to our hearts.

Kindness is a form of worship. A smile, a kind word, or helping someone in need can be recorded as good deeds.

Istighfar (Seeking Forgiveness) wipes away our sins and brings us closer to Allah’s mercy.

Gratitude is essential. Be thankful for every blessing, even small ones, as they are signs of Allah’s love.

A Reminder of Time:

The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said:

“Take advantage of five before five: your youth before your old age, your health before your sickness, your wealth before your poverty, your free time before your busy time, and your life before your death.” (Hadith – Ibn Abbas)

Our time is running out. Each day could be our last, yet we continue to waste hours on things that don’t benefit us in this world or the Hereafter.

Conclusion:

Let this be a reminder to reconnect with Allah. Spend a few moments every day remembering Him — recite His names, read the Quran, and make dua with a sincere heart. A small step today can lead to endless blessings in the Hereafter.

Which of these daily steps will you start practicing — praying on time, reading a short Quranic verse, or reciting Istighfar?
